Information regarding the COVID-19 pandemic and Region 76

March 28, 2020

Dear AYSO Region 76 Community,

First and foremost, we hope you and your families are well and doing whatever you can to follow public health guidelines as we all continue to deal with the impact of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19). Taking care of each other, our families and loved ones, is our first priority.

On Friday, March 27 the Beverly Hills Unified School District (BHUSD), in accordance with the recommendation of the Los Angeles County Office of Education (LACOE), announced a revised return to school date (as of today) for students of Tuesday May 5th.

As a result of this announcement, and out of an abundance of caution and our need to always do what's best for the safety of our families, I am writing to inform you that we will be extending our temporary suspension of all Region 76 activities due to the coronavirus. As before, this will include Kick It, as well as all team practices, scrimmages and participation in AYSO and other tournaments.

At this time, all of these activities will be suspended through the beginning of May. Due to the calendar, if we are able to reopen in early May we will resume the interrupted Kick It Session 1. However, we will also be cancelling in its entirety Session 2 of our Kick It program. Families wishing or needing a refund for Session 2 should contact our Registrar at registrar@ayso76.org. Anyone wishing to donate the refund they would otherwise get back to Region 76 for scholarships, which are sure to increase in the wake of this pandemic, may do so and we will be most appreciative!

It is disappointing for us that the kids don’t get to play, but all of our Region 76 Board members were unanimous in their support for protecting our kids and in their belief that this is the right action to take at this time.

On behalf of our entire AYSO Region 76 Board, our administrators and pro coaches, we wish good health to you, your players and all of your families. Take good care of each other and and thank you for your understanding.

We look forward to seeing everyone back on the soccer pitch very soon!

All the best,

Alex Grossman, Regional Commissioner
