What is the 8U Spring League?

Most if not all games will be played at El Rodeo Elementary School or Horace Mann Elementary School.

Which days do you play?

The games will be primarily played on Saturdays. However, a Sunday only team option will be considered if there is enough interest.

Is there a specific time for the game?

Game times can vary but we try to lock them into two time slots, 10:00 am and 11:00 am.

Are there practices?

While practices are optional, we highly encourage your coaches to have practice. Depending on your coach, your practice can be any weekday either at 4 pm or 5 pm, at El Rodeo or Horace Mann.

What is this Tournament?

Your team can participate in one of two tournaments that are designed specifically for 8U teams.

  • The tournaments are held in other cities and require families to travel.
  • Currently the two potential tournaments are:
    • Founder's Cup | Torrance | April 26-27
    • Fox and Hare | Bellflower | Date TBA

Do coaches need special certifications?

While the coaches only need the certifications they received in the previous Fall to coach 8U, it is highly recommended that they upgrade to 10U Coach Certification, which will be needed in the coming Fall season, anyway. The region will setup coach certification training for those who need it. The region will also setup a mandatory 10U update to describe the rules of 10U.

Do parents have to referee?

Yes. Parents must get certified and referee games. This is a very lenient league so we may allow you to referee your own children’s games. But most likely, you will referee a game just before or after you the game your child plays. The region will provide training to certify as a referee.
