Player Selection and Tryouts

Player Selection

Teams for the Post-Season program are anticipated in the following Divisions:

  • 10U Boys and Girls
  • 12U Boys and Girls
  • 14U Boys and Girls
  • 16U Boys and Girls

What Division am I in?

Players must register in advance for the AYSO Region 76 Post-Season Tryout by completing the Region 76 Tryout Registration Form.

Players are selected for a Region 76 Post-Season Team based on evaluations by the selected coaches and members of the Post-Season Committee at standardized tryouts. Full participation in at least one tryout session is highly recommended for selection. Players may be asked to attend more than one tryout in some Divisions.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the player evaluation process?

Players are selected for Region 76’s Post-Season Committee based on evaluations by coaches and committee members at Standardized Tryouts. Full participation in at least one tryout session is highly recommended for selection. Evaluation sessions include:

  • Impartial evaluators who are experienced Advanced Coaches.
  • A variety of standardized drills and scoring.
  • Use of pinnie #s instead of names during rating.

How are players selected?

The player evaluations will determine the initial player candidates for each team. Player candidates will continue to be evaluated at their Core season games and potentially at additional evaluation sessions offered by Region 76. In addition, families must meet the volunteer commitments during this time. Final selections will be made by the Selection Committee. Final player selections are not made by the coach of the team.

When will parents be notified if their player made the team?

Parents will be notified if their child was selected for the initial player candidate pool, typically within two weeks after the conclusion of the second round of tryouts, if applicable. All parents who attend evaluation sessions will be notified one way or another whether their child made a team or not.

What happens if they don’t make the team?

We strive to form as many additional Tournament Teams as possible in Region 76. There are options for potential additonal teams to be formed, and these teams take time. If we have dedicated volunteer coaches and interested players, additional team formation in select Divisions is a possibility. We will send emails to families with information about potential additional evaluation sessions for such teams.

What if my player is already involved with another club/sports team?

Post-Season All-Star Team participation requires high level of commitment. Players cannot be on another youth sports team, including soccer and other sports. This is done to avoid overuse injuries, and align with US Soccer Organization development guidelines. Players will be asked to sign a commitment letter to AYSO Region 76 Post-Season upon joining a Post-Season team. Players may potentially be permitted to play other sports alongside participation in one of our Tournament Teams.
