What is the 8U Spring League?

The 8U Spring League is a once-a-week program for players who competed in 8U during the previous Fall season, with games against other same-age teams from Beverly Hills and neighboring cities.

Where do you play?

Most games will be played at El Rodeo Elementary School.

Which days do you play?

The games will be primarily played on Saturdays. However, a Sunday only team option will be considered if there is enough interest.

Is there a specific time for the game?

Game times will vary and will be published according to a schedule prior to the start of the season.

Are there practices?

While practices are optional, we highly encourage your coaches to have practice. Depending on your coach, your practice can be any weekday at 5 pm at El Rodeo, Horace Mann or Beverly Vista Middle School.

When does the Spring League begin and end?

  • First game March 7/8 weekend.
  • Last game May 9/10 weekend.

How much does it cost?

$225 Registration Fee Per Player.

What does the fee include?

  • Uniform Kit (2 jerseys, 1 shorts, 1 pair of socks)
  • Registration for Spring League

Can I still register for Kickit?

Kick it is a skills program held on Sundays and has a separate registration. Spring League is not expected to conflict with the majority of Kick It sessions.

What about Tournaments?

Your team has the option to participate in the 8U Division of AYSO Tournaments in the Southern California area! Tournament participation would require additional funds paid by the families on the team and is subject to the following:

  • Agreement to participation by the coaches
  • Agreement to participation by enough families to field a team at the games
  • Acceptance of the team application by the Tournament
  • Acceptance of the team application by the Region
  • Referee Volunteers to officiate games at the tournament as required by the tournament rules

Do coaches need special certifications?

While the coaches only need the certifications they received in the previous Fall to coach 8U, it is highly recommended that they upgrade to 10U Coach Certification, which will be needed in the coming Fall season, anyway. The region will setup coach certification training for those who need it. The region will also setup a mandatory 10U update to describe the rules of 10U.

Do parents have to referee?

Yes. Parents must get certified and referee games. This is a very lenient league so we may allow you to referee your own children’s games. But most likely, you will referee a game just before or after you the game your child plays. The region will provide training to certify as a referee.
