Volunteer Point Program
Dear AYSO Families:
I want to let you know about an important change in our AYSO Regional program.
Beginning next season, Beverly Hills Region 76 will require each team in Divisions U10 through U19 to earn volunteer points in order to participate in our league playoffs. Each team must earn at least 16 volunteer points to qualify for our Regional Playoffs, which leads to Area and Section Playoffs. Teams that fail to accumulate 16 points will play the same number of games, but will not participate in our league playoffs. In U8, since we don't have playoffs, teams accumulating 16 volunteer points will be invited to an end of season soccer event.
Teams earn points by having volunteers agree to referee games. It is possible for each team to earn enough points by having two adult volunteers commit to take a training course and volunteer for 5 referee assignments --- about 15 hours for each volunteer over the entire season. We will, of course, provide all training and equipment.
We are making this change because we don't have enough volunteers. We decided on this approach after studying what other AYSO Regions have done.
If you're worried that it might be too difficult to referee, I want to set your mind at ease. We have some of the best instructors and most experienced referee mentors in all of Southern California. You'll receive training and support all along the way. As you progress to refereeing actual games, you'll be working with more experienced volunteers until you feel comfortable. We aim to make this experience as fun as possible.

Like any new major program change, I am sure that we'll need to make refinements as we go through the season. Please bear with us as we roll out this program.
Now that you are aware of this change to our program, please consider becoming a referee volunteer. The kids will really appreciate it. Please email our referee administrator, , to volunteer or to ask any questions you may have.
