Cliff
Bochner Takes Over
as Regional Commissioner
(Beverly Hills, February 26,
2000) We announce the appointment of Cliff Bochner to succeed
Michael Karlin as Regional Commissioner of AYSO Region 76, effective March
1, 2000.
Michael is stepping down after
10 years on the board. He was appointed Assistant Commissioner in
1996 and assumed the position of Regional Commissioner in February 1997.
Cliff joined the board in 1994
and has administered numerous divisions. He was appointed as
Assistant Commissioner in September 1998 and was elected as
Commissioner-designate in June 1999.
"We are fortunate to have
such a thoughtful, caring person as Cliff," said Karlin.
"He has been a long-time volunteer who knows the program at every
level and is committed to its values of safety, fairness and fun. I
ask everyone to give him the support he needs and deserves."
Bochner said he hopes in the
coming year to educate parents of our community how they can best serve
their children's interests while also enjoying watching them play. He
spoke warmly of the changes that Michael Karlin had initiated and
continuing the progress the Region has made in developing such programs as
short-sided games (less than 11 players per team on the field); a shift
from competition to player development, especially among the younger
players; new coach education programs; the new junior referee program; and
the enhanced regional website.
