Lights! Fields! Action!

Dear AYSO Families:

I am writing to ask you for your support for a very important project for our community – lighting and improving the athletic fields at Beverly Hills High School.

This project is not just about the high school. Beverly Hills is critically short of playing fields. AYSO had to run its 1400 player program last year on just five fields – with three teams to a field for practices that were limited to an hour a week.

Thanks to an agreement between the City of Beverly Hills and the Beverly Hills Unified School District, school facilities, when not being used for school purposes, are available for AYSO. But without well-maintained lit fields, the value of that agreement is limited. The School District, with its funding tied to state allocations, is unable to pay for field improvements.

That’s why AYSO has become a major supporter of the Lights! Fields! Action! campaign, chaired by former Beverly Hills AYSO Commissioner Michael Karlin, and why we need your help now. The first phase of the campaign is getting lights ordered and installed in time for the Fall soccer season. The next phase of the campaign will be enlarging the upper (softball) field at the High School and installing modern turf and drainage systems.

We need to raise $120,000 in the next six weeks to make it the first phase happen.

Please contribute to the Lights! Fields! Action! campaign. A donation to our campaign of $125 or more will buy an inscribed brick or stone for the new “Norman Walkway” adjacent to the field. You can make a donation through the District authorized campaign at a this secure website.
